Cloud Computing, Up Up and Away

Like it or not, we all pretty much use cloud computing.  Do you have a Gmail, Yahoo, or AIM account?   Or any other web based email?  Welcome to the cloud.  Social Media sites that you belong to, collaborate with and about are up in the cloud.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing) defines Cloud Computing as “Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand, like a public utility.”

Multi-location businesses now have the opportunity to run all their business apps and voice traffic in an MPLS secure network, another form of cloud.  Voice traffic can have priority if set up to run over these networks for site to site extension dialing or outbound/inbound calling.

Running your business in the cloud can be done with ease, much like setting up a web based email account.  I have been using Google Apps for almost a year.  I don’t need to worry about my contacts, calendar and emails ever going away due to hardware failure.  I run my CRM in the cloud.  I back up all my important data to the cloud.

No reason to be scared of cloud computing.  Chances are you might already be up in the cloud.  You do have a choice to use it to your advantage with many other applications that you might use already.  Get started with getting your contacts, calendar and all of your emails stored up, up and away!
